Sport in Mind is the UK's leading mental health sports charity. We use the power of sport to transform the lives of children and adults. We are looking to host regular free sports mental health sessions in the City of London. When it comes to volunteering at a Sport in Mind session, the softer skills are what really matter. We are looking for individuals who are kind, friendly and approachable, and able to engage our attendees in the activity in a way in which they gain the maximum benefit. We ask that session volunteers attend their allocated session(s) as regularly as possible to provide consistency for our participants. You don't need to have ever picked up a racket or kicked a ball to volunteer at one of our sessions. A basic understanding of the rules of whichever sport/activity you choose is desirable but not essential. What will be my responsibilities be?: You will help our session leaders to provide a fun, safe and welcoming environment for our participants by: • Welcoming attendees to the session in a friendly and warm manner. • Helping any new attendees to settled into the session. • Facilitate games by either playing yourself or taking the score. • Engage with our attendees in a calm, friendly and non-judgemental manner. • Make sure any equipment is easily accessed and in good condition. • General set up and tidying up as required. • Help to spot potential hazards and take preventative measures e.g., cleaning up spilt drinks to prevent slips. What training & benefits are available?: Sport in Mind massively value our volunteers for giving their time to help deliver our fun, safe and welcoming sessions. We are delighted to offer ongoing training opportunities around sport and mental health to help you develop your skills as a volunteer and grow in confidence. In addition, you will also receive one of our amazing Sport in Mind t-shirts! You also get to be part of our awesome, passionate Sport in Mind volunteering community and discover all the amazing benefits that sport and activity has on your own mental wellbeing.
