About ThreadPoint ThreadPoint is a social impact organisation helping children, schools and communities understand the physical systems behind AI, cloud computing, data centres and digital infrastructure. Through creative workshops, research, books and community programmes, we're building infrastructure literacy across the UK. We currently run sessions across Hackney, Camden and beyond, working with schools, libraries and community partners. About the Role: We're looking for a creative and motivated PR & Social Media Volunteer to help us grow ThreadPoint's presence on LinkedIn and Instagram. We have brilliant stories to tell — from school workshops and community sessions to research, publications and partnerships — and we need someone passionate about communications to help us tell them well. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to build a portfolio, gain hands-on experience in social media and PR, or develop their skills in a purposeful and creative environment. Responsibilities: 1. Create and schedule content for LinkedIn and Instagram 2. Write engaging captions that reflect the ThreadPoint voice — warm, human and storytelling-led 3. Source and select images from content provided by the ThreadPoint team 4. Design simple graphics and visuals using Canva 5. Support the development of a consistent content calendar 6. Help draft press releases and external communications where needed 7. Monitor engagement and share insights with the team 8. Identify PR opportunities, local press contacts and relevant publications Experience in PR or social media is welcome but not essential. We care more about enthusiasm, reliability and a good creative instinct.

Why these skills are required

Useful skills include copywriting, content creation, graphic design, PR writing, photography or videography. Familiarity with scheduling tools such as SocialPilot, Buffer or Later is a bonus but not required. Most importantly we're looking for someone with a genuine voice and a passion for storytelling.
