Festival TV Makers – Volunteering with Free Film Training
WORLDwrite
Help the charity WORLDwrite make films for public benefit while developing camera & production skills. No experience required. Full training with professional film kit provided.
This is a volunteer opportunity to make film & video for public benefit. If developing filmmaking skills or testing your existing skills while making an impact interests you, this is definitely for you. Our next free “Train & Shoot” programme for volunteers is open to everyone aged 16 and over. Whether you’re a seasoned filmmaker or have never held a camera, this is a unique volunteer programme with hands-on, face-to-face camera training and professional shoots. Once your skills are honed, participants will form crews to film debates and panels at the Battle of Ideas Festival in Westminster in October 26. This is a volunteer run festival featuring high level speakers on politics, science, history, culture and the arts. This project will result in the production of over 50 videos for online distribution. Every volunteer will be credited for their work—and in the media world, credits are currency. We’ll also provide lunches and cover local travel expenses.

E5 0AL
201 Millfields Road, Hackney, London E5 0AL for training & practice & Church House, Westminster for festival
The WORLDwrite Centre, 201 Millfields Road is in Clapton in Hackney, London E5 0AL. It can be a bit difficult to find us as the street numbers make no sense and are probably best ignored! We are RIGHT AT THE BOTTOM OF MILLFIELDS ROAD OPPOSITE OSWALD STREET The 242 Bus does stop right outside our black gate on Millfields Road. We are in a red brick detached building with a power station on one side and former environmental services on the other. There are also a lot of buses which stop at the top of Millfields Road at Clapton pond. From Clapton pond you need to walk all the way to the other end of Millfields road to get to us (about 15mins). The Silverlink train which runs west east also stops not far away at Homerton station or Hackney Central from where you can jump on a 242 bus which will take about 10 mins and drop you outside our centre. These details are not comprehensive so do check online with TFL or Google maps to find the quickest way to get to us from where you are. If you are driving you need to enter the lower half of Millfields Road from Chatsworth Road as the top side is blocked off. There is roadside parking in all streets around us which is free at weekends and we’ll provide you with a voucher on week days.
