Tour de France Grand Départ – JOY Maker Volunteer Programme
In summer 2027, the Tour de France and Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift will both begin in Great Britain – the first time both Grand Départs have taken place in the same country, outside France. The Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift was launched in 2022 and will be visiting London on Sunday 1st August 2027. We are looking for volunteers to support us with a range of volunteering roles from race delivery to spectator support.

We are looking for volunteers to support us with a range of volunteering roles from race delivery to spectator support. Volunteer roles available include: - Road Crossing volunteer - Route marshal volunteer - Welcome and wayfinding volunteer - Visitor engagement volunteer - Route volunteer team leader - Super Domestique - Yellow flag volunteer - Wayfinding team leader - Visitor engagement team leader - Spectator research volunteer - Events operations volunteer The race delivery roles are critical to race delivery and those who want to be close to the action! Whether you’re a flag waver guiding the world’s best cyclists or helping spectators at crossing points, you’ll help the Tour pass through safely. Whilst the spectator support roles are great for those who can provide local knowledge, a friendly face and a warm welcome. Prior to starting your journey as a volunteer, you will be expected to complete an online Core Training Session, an in-person session ahead of your first shift and then the shift itself on the day of the event. We welcome and encourage anyone interested and eager to support to apply as full training will be provided. During the application process, you will be given the chance to outline any skills or experience that you want to share and think could be helpful. - Be available for at least one day of the event. - Be aged 16+ by 1 April 2027. - Be willing to learn and be happy to complete all training required before volunteering. - Have a real enthusiasm for welcoming and talking to visitors. - Have the right to work in the UK. - Understand we may need to conduct a security risk assessment check, depending on role. Since this is a short volunteering opportunity of just one or two shifts we are keeping as much of the journey to becoming a JOY Maker to remote or online interactions as possible to respect your time and minimise the cost to you as a volunteer. You will be expected to complete an online Core Training Session of 1-2 hours, an in person training session ahead of your first shift of around 4 hours, and then your shift itself which is likely to be most of the day of the event. There will be additional ways for you to get involved should you wish to, along the way too!
