We are looking for project session volunteers to support our engaging and fun, music-making sessions for adults with disabilities.

Detailed Description

The Music Man Project Hackney is an inclusive weekly musical workshop for adults with disabilities, offering accessible, joyful music‑making in a supportive community setting. Run in partnership with The Music Man Project UK, our sessions provide opportunities to learn instruments, sing, sign, perform, and experience the power of group music. It offers: - Instrumental learning - Singing and signing - Uplifting group music-making - Confidence‑building experiences - Opportunities to perform publicly We are looking for project session volunteers to support our engaging and fun, music-making sessions for adults with disabilities. Duties and responsibilities: - To support regular, group-based music sessions, promoting the ethos of The Music Man Project (education - as opposed to therapy, enjoyment and inspirational performance opportunities). - To support students to sing, sign and play standard Music Man Project instruments. - To help prepare students for local and joint performances with other Music Man project regions by encouraging and working beside them and attending performances. - To work together with session leaders in setting up, packing away and caring for the instruments. - To help prepare and serve light refreshments. - To attend planning meetings from time to time. - To record attendance and session payments on a pre-printed register and issue receipts. Skills and experiences needed: - Excellent communication skills and emotional intelligence. - Positive and engaging attitude. - Passion, enthusiasm and commitment. - Experience of special needs education/care (desirable) - Interest in and sympathy with the aims and objectives of The Salvation Army. Safeguarding training will be provided prior to starting by the Salvation Army team. Sessions take place on a Wednesday afternoon between 12:15 and 15:00. We would like volunteers to attend weekly to build up a relationship and understanding with session attendees.
