Trustee for Hackney Night Shelter Board

Hackney Doorways

HNS runs a main shelter for around 20 guests each night 365 days per year. We are also actively seeking premises to re open a women only shelter in the borough. Trustees play a vital role in ensuring that the organisation delivers its charitable objectives, remains financially sound and complies with its legal and regulatory responsibilities.

Detailed Description

We are looking for new Trustees to help strengthen and grow our Board as we expand our reach and deepen our impact. Whether you’re an experienced trustee or stepping onto a Board for the first time, your perspective and commitment matter. We welcome applicants of all ages and backgrounds and are committed to building a Board that reflects the diversity of our community. We are especially keen to hear from people who bring: • A deep understanding of homelessness, either through lived experience or frontline work • Expertise in finance, fundraising, HR, safeguarding or legal/administrative services A detailed role description is available on our website. The Board meets quarterly with the Charity Director. Between meetings, trustees contribute to working groups such as finance, fundraising, premises or governance. Time commitment: around 1–2 days per quarter. Please register interest in the role and we will request that you send your CV and a covering letter to us.
