Arts and Crafts Volunteer (Together Better)

Together Better is looking for a volunteer to help run an Arts & Crafts group on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Friday of each month within the GP surgery. Sessions on the other Fridays are already run by another facilitator. The role can involve leading simple creative activities or helping facilitate a relaxed social group where people work on their own projects. This would suit someone who enjoys arts and crafts and is comfortable supporting a friendly community group.

Key Tasks • Support and encourage participants during sessions. • Lead simple creative activities if desired. • Help set up and tidy the space. • Create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. • Record attendance and provide basic feedback to the Together Better team. Who This Role Would Suit: This role would suit someone who enjoys arts and crafts, likes working with people, and is happy helping to run a relaxed community group. Experience leading groups is helpful but not essential.

No formal qualifications are required. Volunteers should be friendly, reliable, patient, and comfortable supporting and encouraging people in a group setting. An interest in arts and crafts and the ability to help create a welcoming environment are important.
Volunteers will gain valuable experience in leading group sessions, develop skills in communication, adaptability, and community engagement, and build confidence in delivering health-focused activities. They’ll also gain a deeper understanding of patient wellbeing and social prescribing in a primary care setting. This role offers regular social contact, a sense of purpose, and the chance to make a real difference. Ongoing support and training are provided.
