co. work Community Host Volunteer

The Thread Point Foundation CIC

Do you enjoy making people feel welcome? co.work is looking for calm, reliable Community Host Volunteers to help run a weekly adult workspace where local residents can work, study, plan, write, apply for jobs, or simply get things done in good company.

Detailed Description

co.work is a community workspace created to give local adults access to a warm, welcoming and affordable place to work, study, plan, apply for jobs, complete admin, write, create, or focus outside the home. We are looking for Community Host Volunteers to help us run the space every Tuesday from Tuesday 2 June, between 10:00am and 4:00pm. Volunteers will need to arrive at 9:30am to help set up and will leave by around 4:30pm after pack-down. As a Community Host Volunteer, you will help create a calm, friendly and respectful environment. You will greet people as they arrive, tick attendees in, explain the basic house rules, help keep the space neat and tidy, and make sure the room feels welcoming throughout the day. This is not a teaching, coaching or advice role. You are not expected to provide specialist support, job advice, benefits advice, immigration advice, counselling, or technical assistance. The role is mainly about hosting the room, noticing if anything needs attention, and helping the day run smoothly. There will be an aim to have two people present at all times, so volunteers are not expected to manage the space alone. Volunteers are also welcome to bring their own laptop, notebook, admin, study or creative work and use the space themselves during quieter moments, as long as they remain attentive to the room.. We also have laptops available for you to use for the day should this be required. Main tasks As a co.work Community Host Volunteer, you may help with: • Arriving at 9:30am to help set up the room • Welcoming attendees as they arrive • Ticking people in using the attendance list or booking system • Explaining basic house rules in a friendly way • Helping maintain a calm, respectful and tidy workspace • Keeping an eye on the room and noticing if anyone needs general support • Reporting any safeguarding concerns or serious issues to the project lead • Helping with refreshments if provided • Supporting light pack-down at the end of the session • Leaving the space clean, tidy and ready for the venue team
