Volunteer cleaning for Hackney Night Shelter, a 365 day homeless shelter in Hackney with spaces for 20 low/no needs guests - Ad-Hoc/Flexi/Regular all needed!
Hackney Night Shelter offers 20 people emergency accommodation 365 days a year, with each person being given a 28 night stay, allowing people to find stability and look toward longer term accommodation options. With a relatively large shelter which is home to up to 20 low/no support need guests each night, with 7 bedrooms and a large communal area, it is vitally important to stay on top of cleanliness, as such, we are seeking people interested in helping to keep things going with a new cleaning role. Traditionally, this role has been covered by our overnight staff team - but it has become apparent that we need more on deck to help out. This role would mostly consist of: - Vacuuming (empty) bedrooms and main rooms. - Cleaning bathrooms - Wiping down walls and dusting - spot cleaning areas which are in particular need and just generally helping us to stay on top of things.

Anyone with a will to clean and an eye for detail! The cleaning in question is not intense, rather intended on maintaining a good cleanliness standard, so is accessible to those without professional experience. Volunteers must be able to carry out the cleaning without supervision once they have been inducted as to allow staff to continue regular roles.
A truly rewarding experience, a chance to really make a difference to some of the most vulnerable in society by maintaining a high standard of cleanliness in one of London's only 365 day night shelter.
2 shifts per month - 1hr minimum (no maximum but one hour sounds about right!)
