Art for Wellbeing Volunteer
Volunteer Centre Hackney
We’re looking for a passionate and creative individual who values inclusivity and enjoys working with people to lead regular sessions at our small ‘Art for Wellbeing’ group. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience with people, leading art activities for wellbeing, or being part of an inclusive community art space.
Together Better is a Volunteer Centre Hackney project that aims to lighten the load on GP surgeries and encourage NHS patients into activities that will benefit their health and wellbeing, by supporting them to build inclusive and sustainable relationships and overall healthier lives. We’re looking for a passionate and creative individual who values inclusivity and enjoys working with people to lead regular sessions at our small ‘Art for Wellbeing’ group. What you’ll be doing: • Welcome participants into an Art for Wellbeing session • Taking a register of who is attending • Facilitate a relaxed, community Art for Wellbeing Group • Come up with ideas for artistic activities and lead on them (optional) • Having a chat with participants about creativity, wellbeing or anything you’d like • Help people coming to feel included and encouraged • Help to create a welcoming space for attendees who prefer to work on their own projects • Feeding back questions, ideas, concerns or safety issues to the Volunteer Coordinator. The Group: • This is a fun and friendly group with a range of art skills, and as the group is open to all patients, we find that attendees naturally have a variety of communication and access needs. • The groups are currently between 3-6 attendees, and if you need support with running the group our Volunteer Coordinator can be there to assist you. How we’ll support you: • You’ll receive close support from our Volunteer Coordinator, who will guide you regardless of your confidence or experience level and help you make the most of this opportunity. • All art materials, room, tables, and chairs will be provided. • We offer training, 1-1 support, a DBS check, and a reference for your time volunteering with us. Who are we? • As a Together Better Programme volunteer, you will be joining a community that empowers volunteers to run free activities at GP surgeries, supporting the NHS, and helping people stay active. • We’re committed to ensuring that volunteering helps you achieve your personal goals, whether that’s meeting new people, gaining experience, learning new skills, or giving back to the community. Time: The group currently runs from 3pm – 5pm on Wednesday, but if you have daytime availability at a different time we would still love to hear from you.
