Age UK City of London are a charity for older people in the City of London (the Square Mile). We provide activities and services to support social connection, health and wellbeing and digital inclusion. Our programme of health walks for people aged 55+ in and around the Square Mile provide opportunities for people to stay healthy and active, socialise and meet new people, and learn more about the City’s fascinating history. The walks are led by a team of volunteers and take place on both weekdays and weekends. We are currently looking for volunteers to expand this team. In particular we are looking for someone to support our Tuesday very gentle health walk which is especially for people with mobility difficulties and does a slow loop around Fortune Park/ Barbican/ Bunhill Fields area, ending with tea and coffee at a local café. The walk is weekly and we are looking for someone who can commit to attending at least once a fortnight. We are also recruiting Walk Leaders and walk volunteers for our Thursday and Sunday walks. You will be part of a supportive and friendly team. Role: Planning and risk assessing walks. Leading walk and sharing information about local history, flora, fauna, art or whatever interests you! (Walk Leaders only) Being a friendly face when people arrive, chatting to and supporting walkers, being a backstop on walks, taking register (walk volunteers)

No, just good people skills and a friendly, engaging manner
Giving back to the community, meeting interesting people, learning about history of the local area/ being able to put their existing knowledge to good use. This opportunity would suit someone who is semi-retired or retired and is available during the daytime.
For our Tuesday walks we are ideally looking for someone who can commit to attending once a fortnight. We would be interested in hearing from people who are interested in this opportunity, even if they are not available on Tuesdays or can’t commit to that frequency as we have a number of other walks and are always keen to hear from people who want to join the team.
