Short film editor volunteer
Volunteer Centre Hackney
We need a short film editor/creator, to help us edit and/or put together short impactful good quality films we can post on social media /our website and include in funding applications, to bring our programmes to life. These will demonstrate the huge impact of our services and help us attract new volunteers, participants and funders to reach many more people who can benefit.
At Volunteer Centre Hackney, we deliver programmes that have huge impact on residents – helping reduce social isolation, bringing people together across backgrounds to build positive trusting relationships, growing people’s confidence to attain personal goals and live independent lives. We want to be able to demonstrate this to partners, funders, stakeholders and to encourage more people to volunteer. Short engaging films would really help us to do this, as they would help bring our stories to life, to show people enjoying and talking about our services. We have lots of film copy taken by staff on their phones, but it all needs edited and refined to be of sufficient quality to post online, and to include in funding proposals. We have people talking about how much they have benefitted from having a volunteer befriender, we see people taking part in our walking groups and exercise classes, people who have gained paid jobs, people who have made new friends and who are laughing and joking with each other. All these people have been referred to us because they have been struggling with their mental or physical health and have been very isolated from their community, and the changes we see are remarkable. It would be great if others could see this too. As well as editing the films our staff are taking, if you had the skills and interest in making your own film(s), to demonstrate our programmes, that would also be hugely beneficial, as we may not have the best copy, and you may have a vision of what would be better to record.
Marketing, PR & Media
Creative & Design, Good IT Skills
Volunteers will need to have experience of both editing and making short films, with ability to use editing software, to be able to make good quality and highly engaging short films. It would also be an advantage if they have an understanding of how best to present these on social media so as to attract high engagement.
You will be helping us tell the story of our programmes and how they change and affect people’s lives. This will help engage more people who can benefit, people who are struggling with loneliness and isolation, who have mental and physical health issues and through our programmes can hugely improve their wellbeing. You will be helping a small local charity with very limited resources attract more funding to help sustain and grow, and help continue to bring communities and people from different backgrounds together.
Flexible to fit around the volunteer’s schedule. Deadlines for completing tasks will be agreed with the volunteer and may be for one film or several, for editing only, for creation of new short films only, or for a combination of both.
