Digital Inclusion Volunteer

To provide practical, patient and supportive digital inclusion assistance to unpaid carers and other individuals accessing Carers Centre Tower Hamlets services. The role aims to reduce digital exclusion by helping people build confidence in using smartphones, tablets, computers and online services safely and independently.
To provide practical, patient and supportive digital inclusion assistance to unpaid carers and other individuals accessing Carers Centre Tower Hamlets services. The role aims to reduce digital exclusion by helping people build confidence in using smartphones, tablets, computers and online services safely and independently. The Digital Inclusion Volunteer will encourage and empower individuals to develop the skills required to access information, stay connected with family and friends, improve wellbeing and make use of online services that support their health, independence and daily living.

The successful volunteer should be able to demonstrate: • Good basic digital skills and confidence using smartphones, tablets, computers and the internet. • The ability to explain digital processes in a simple, clear and accessible way. • Patience, empathy and understanding when supporting people who may feel anxious or lack confidence with technology. • Good listening and communication skills. • Reliability and commitment to agreed volunteering sessions. • An understanding of confidentiality and the importance of handling personal information appropriately. • A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion. • An interest in supporting carers and helping to reduce digital exclusion.
