We believe in the transformative power of the arts and community connection to impact people’s physical and mental health and wellbeing. Volunteers are an integral part of the St Margaret’s House team. They help us engage and inspire both individuals and community groups, whilst gaining key skills and experience in a busy and multifaceted arts charity. Many of our volunteers have gone on to become paid members of staff at St Margaret’s House, or have been able to find work in other organisations after volunteering with us. We are looking for people to volunteer at our Repair Café. We are looking for people with specific mending skills including sewing, IT, and electrical items to support people at our monthly repair cafe's. Volunteers help mend and repair items including: Clothes, hats and bags - volunteers will guide individuals through mending skills such as how to sew on a missing or loose button, hemming tricks and tips for alterations, and how to repair small holes. Small electrical appliances - volunteer electricians will look at small household electrical appliances and either help mend it or recommend what can be done with it. IT equipment - volunteers will do their best to help resolve the issue or recommend solutions for items that don't work as well as they used to, or any IT issues individuals are facing. If you are interested in volunteering your time to be part of the SMH Gardening Club, please get in touch by registering interest and we will provide you with more information about when the next session is taking place. Our team appreciate applications submitted to us, however due to the high volume of applications, we are not always able to respond to each individual applicant.
