Bid Writer

Stoke Newington Music School

Support our music school by researching funding opportunities and writing persuasive grant applications. Use your creativity and communication skills to help secure resources that expand musical access for children, young people, and the wider community. A rewarding role for anyone who enjoys writing, researching, and making a positive impact.

Detailed Description

We are seeking a passionate and detail-driven Volunteer Bid Writer to help our music school secure vital funding that enables us to deliver life-changing creative opportunities to children, young people, people with disabilities and people tackling loneliness and isolation. This is a highly rewarding role for someone who enjoys researching, writing, and crafting compelling stories that make a real social impact. As our Bid Writer, you will take the lead in identifying suitable grant opportunities from trusts, foundations, and public bodies. You will analyse funding guidelines, assess eligibility, and select the most promising avenues for our work. Working closely with the leadership team, you will gather the information needed to produce clear, persuasive, and professionally presented funding applications. Your tasks will include writing strong narrative sections while ensuring every application remains accurate, engaging, and tailored to each funder’s priorities. You will also support the preparation of simple budgets, timelines, and supporting documents to accompany submissions. An important part of the role involves maintaining a live funding calendar, tracking deadlines, recording progress, and helping us evaluate and improve our overall fundraising approach. Where needed, you may assist with reports to funders, ensuring they receive updates that demonstrate our impact and help build long-term relationships. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in charity work, arts development, education, or fundraising. Whether you are looking to gain experience, develop your writing portfolio, or simply use your skills for a meaningful cause, this role offers flexibility, professional growth, and the chance to see your work directly contribute to expanding musical access for our community. If you love words, enjoy problem-solving, and feel motivated by the idea of helping a creative organisation thrive, we would be delighted to welcome you to our team.
