Beyond the Streets
Door of Hope is a project of Beyond the Streets, a national charity which has been delivering services to women involved in survival sex in the UK . We provide a responsive outreach service to women involved in street-based survival sex in the East End of London. As an Outreach Volunteer you’ll join our team of staff and volunteers to provide hope, practical support and routes out of selling sex for women. You must be available early Thur am and late Fri eve at least once a month for 18 months.

Door of Hope provides a responsive outreach service to women involved in street based survival sex in the East End of London. As an Outreach Volunteer you’ll join our team of staff and volunteers to provide hope, support and routes out of selling sex for women. ***This role is only open to women aged 18+***. Main Responsibilities: • Make initial contact with women working on the agreed outreach route. • Provide women with practical support and advice around issues relating to health, personal safety and wellbeing. • Provide hospitality, offering hot drinks and snacks to women during outreach. • Maintain accurate records of the details of women engaged for Beyond the Streets monitoring purposes. • Provide peer support and back up to other volunteers in the team. - Take part in quarterly volunteer events and catch-ups, including training sessions. For this role you will need to be available for Thursday early morning and Friday late evening outreach - a minimum of once a month, and make a commitment of 18 months.

• Commitment to the vision, mission, ethos and values of Beyond the Streets. • Commit to undergo training around Safeguarding and Drug and Alcohol Awareness. • Have empathy for Door of Hope’s client group, an understanding of the issue of selling sex and the effect it can have on those involved, as well as an understanding of violence against women. • Have an ability to build trusting relationships whilst maintaining personal boundaries. • Be able to work well within a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Willing to work collaboratively with a range of external organisations. • Be responsible, reliable and consistent. • Be able to commit to the volunteer role for a minimum period of 18 months. • Be available for early Thursday morning and late Friday evening outreach- a minimum of once a month • Proactively engage with external pastoral support.
You will be able to access fantastic free training on safeguarding, outreach, understanding survival sex, drug & alcohol awareness, and trauma informed support. Free tickets to the Whitechapel Women’s Tour This is a good opportunity if you want to begin a career in the charity sector, specifically within the Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Sector. You will be able to give back to local community and will meet other amazing, like-minded women.
One outreach shift a month for 18 months. Shifts are on Thursday early mornings (5am-7am) and Friday late evenings (11:30pm-2am).
