Alzheimer's Society is looking for friendly and compassionate Chinese/Vietnamese Speaking Support Volunteers to help at our Memory Café at Calder's Wharf Community Centre in E14. The Memory Café provides a welcoming and supportive environment for people living with dementia and their carers to socialise, take part in activities, and build connections within the community.

Detailed Description

Alzheimer's Society is looking for friendly and compassionate Chinese or Vietnamese Speaking Support Volunteers to help at our Memory Café at Calder's Wharf Community Centre in E14. The Memory Café provides a welcoming and supportive environment for people living with dementia and their carers to socialise, take part in activities and build connections within the community. As a volunteer, you will: • Welcome and interact with people living with dementia and their carers. • Provide conversation and companionship in Chinese/Vietnamese to help participants feel comfortable and included. • Support participants during group activities, offering encouragement and assistance when needed. • Help create a warm, friendly, and inclusive atmosphere. • Assist staff with setting up and tidying away activities if required.

What we're looking for: • Ability to speak fluent Vietnamese or Chinese. • A caring, patient, and empathetic approach. • Good communication and interpersonal skills. • Reliability and commitment to attend sessions. No previous experience with dementia is required—training and ongoing support will be provided.

Time Commitment

Volunteers are required to attend every 4th Friday of the month for 2 hours from 11am to 1pm and commit to the role for at least 6 months.
