Food Bank Minibus Driver

The Dockland Settlements

The Dockland Settlements runs a regular food bank. We need volunteer drivers to help collect food supplies using our minibus. Drivers are needed for 2 hours on Tuesday and Thursday mornings (08:45-10:45) and for 90 minutes on Wednesday evenings (19:30-21:00) each week. You don't have to volunteer for all 3 shifts - if you can cover one or two of these shifts each week, that would be welcomed. You will need a full UK driving license and be over 21. A minibus (D1) license would be beneficial.

Detailed Description

The Dockland Settlements runs a regular food bank. We need volunteer drivers to help collect food supplies using our minibus. Journeys take place within Tower Hamlets. You will drive either our electric minibus or one of our regular minibuses. You will have a co-pilot to help navigate and load/unload. Drivers are needed for 2 hours on Tuesday and Thursday mornings (08:45-10:45) and for 90 minutes on Wednesday evenings (19:30-21:00) each week. You don't have to volunteer for all 3 shifts - if you can cover just one or two of these shifts each week, that would be really appreciated. You must have a full UK driving license. Although not essential, if you have a minibus category (D1 category) on your driving license, this would be a benefit. You will also need to be aged 21 or over for this role due to vehicle insurance restrictions. The role involves some loading and unloading of food supplies so you will need to be physically able to do this.

Why these skills are required

An ability to drive a minibus or van and to give some assistance moving food supplies. Although not essential, a minibus category (D1 license category) on your driving license would be a benefit. You must be 21 or over for this role.

Time Commitment

We need help for 6 hours each week as follows: Tuesday morning 2 hours from 08:45 to 10:45 Wednesday evening 90 mins from 19:30 to 21:00 Thursday morning 2 hours from 08:45 to 10:45 Volunteers do not need to be available for all three sessions. If you can help with just one or two sessions, that would be very useful.
