Front of House Volunteer

Vagina Museum

We are looking to expand our team of Front of House Volunteers. You will welcome visitors to the Vagina Museum and support making it a warm and inclusive place. You will answer questions visitors, deal with enquiries, provide information, and respond to emails. Front of House Volunteers engage with and supervise all visitors in the Museum, and support staff to keep the Vagina Museum safe for everyone. They are also required to help with shop sales and booking tickets for events.

Detailed Description

The Vagina Museum was founded in 2017 with a view to become the world's first bricks and mortar museum dedicated to the gynaecological anatomy. We wouldn't be able to do it without the dedication from our fantastic staff and volunteers. Based in Bethnal Green, this free admission museum has a programme of exhibitions and events educating about and celebrating the world's most misunderstood body part. Our current exhibitions explore sexism in the museum world, feminist history and body activism. We are looking to expand our team of Front of House Volunteers. Front of House Volunteers welcome visitors to the Vagina Museum and support making it a warm and inclusive place. They answer questions from visitors, deal with enquiries, provide information to visitors, and respond to emails. Front of House Volunteers engage with and supervise all visitors in the Museum, and support staff to keep the Vagina Museum safe for everyone. They are also required to help with shop sales and to perform other tasks such as booking tickets for events. Full training is provided in skills relevant to working in a museum setting and the themes of the Museum

Time Commitment

We are particularly looking for volunteers who are available at weekends. Ideally you will make a minimum time commitment of 5 hours per month, with a shift in one of the following slots: • Wednesday-Sunday, 10.30am-3pm, or 2pm-6.30pm • Some evening shifts for events ad hoc While shifts are available from Wednesday to Sunday, weekend availability will be prioritised. Should you wish to undertake more than one shift per month, we strongly welcome this. We try and operate as flexibly as possible, with summer holidays/childcare requirements, etc. Many of our volunteers undertake one or two shifts per week.
