The Friends of Finsbury Park (FoFP) is a registered charity run by volunteers keen to ensure our historic, Grade II listed heritage remains a precious resource for the whole community to enjoy now and for generations to come. We are currently looking for a Volunteer Treasurer with accountancy or bookkeeping experience to join our Board of Trustees in supporting our small charity to continue our mission.
We are currently looking for a Volunteer Treasurer with accountancy or bookkeeping experience to join our Board of Trustees in supporting our small charity to continue our mission to preserve our beautiful Grade II listed Finsbury Park as a ‘green lung for London’ for park users and to protect its wildlife. The Treasurer’s role includes oversight of the financial management of the charity, ensuring that the charity operates in a financially sustainable and transparent manner in line with its mission, its legal responsibilities, and its good governance practices. The role involves providing advice on financial matters to the Board and ensuring the charity adheres to statutory financial reporting obligations. The Treasurer deals with financial controls, clear reporting, and effective budgeting. The Treasurer works closely with the Board and the Chair to safeguard the charity’s finances and financial stability. Duties & Responsibilities: 1. The role involves managing our bank accounts and ensure the Friends make payments and register/receipt income in a timely way and in accordance with Charity Commission guidelines. 2. Keep a basic spreadsheet of cash transactions, and provide financial advice/report on the management accounts to each of the Committee's general meetings (minimum 4 meetings per year including AGM: f2f or remote attendance). To advise on financial policies and ensure that The Friends maintain sufficient reserves to cover liabilities as they fall due. 3. Prepare the year end statutory accounts and annual return to Companies House and the Charity Commission and arrange for an independent verification to be completed in time for the accounts to be approved at the AGM each November. To ensure the accounts are filed and uploaded by the required due date - 31st December in the year following the year of the accounts. 4. Support fundraising/grant applications and enable donations to ensure GiftAid is recovered. 5. Lead on any legal and statutory requirements, such as our current project to complete the conversion of the legal structure from Company Limited by Guarantee to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation. N.B: Whoever takes on the role will be given support from the Board of Trustees and some guidance from an Independent Examiner

By joining the FoFP Board of Trustees as Treasurer, you will play an important, influential and valuable role; as well as ensuring that we are an accountable and well governed organisation, you will make an important contribution to our current work and future direction.
The role of Treasurer requires roughly 3-4 hours per month

Meetings take generally place in various meeting spaces in and around Stroud Green and Finsbury Park – always N4. Specific information on location and public transport options are sent out prior to meeting dates (usually 4 or 5 a year).
