Are you a mum with experience of breastfeeding? As a Peer Supporter, you will be helping the wellbeing of new and expectant mothers and babies by supporting breastfeeding. We provide a free 12-session training course (each week from 7-9pm on a Thursday). Once you have completed the Open College Network course you will volunteer as a Peer Supporter at Children's Centres, workshops, and at the Royal London Hospital. Application deadline 15 September 2026. The course starts mid October 2026.
Are you a mum with experience of breastfeeding your baby? As a Peer Supporter, you will be helping the mental and physical wellbeing of new and expectant mothers and babies by supporting breastfeeding. First you will complete a free 12-session training course which is accredited by the Open College Network . The course is online, from 7pm-9pm on a Thursday evening (if you are not available on a Thursday evening, we may have other options for completing the training on a Monday evening). The training course will start in the middle of October 2026. Once you have completed the course you will be able to volunteer as a Breastfeeding Peer Supporter across the borough at Children's Centres, at workshops, and on the maternity ward at the Royal London Hospital. **The application deadline for this role is Tuesday 15 September 2026**.

• You must have had experience of breastfeeding at least one baby, including expressing breast milk. • No other experience is needed but you must complete the 12-session training course before you can start volunteering.
• A nationally recognised, Open College Network (London) accredited qualification (two units at Level 2, equivalent level to GCSEs in England and National 5s in Scotland). Your qualification will mean you will gain; • The knowledge to support other mums with breastfeeding. • The opportunity to continue training to become a BfN Registered Breastfeeding Supporter if you wish to.
Once you have completed the 12-session training course we would ideally like you to volunteer with us for at least 6 months, to get the most out of the role and the training. We appreciate whatever time you can spare us, but would ideally like a couple of hours every fortnight. Volunteering can happen in the Royal London Hospital on the maternity ward at any hours that suit you (once you have had an initial morning induction), at drop-in sessions, and at workshops across the borough.
