You’ll provide supervised childcare during programme sessions, enabling parents (particularly mothers with young children) to fully participate in ESOL classes, workshops, and employment support activities. Volunteers are currently needed for 2 hours per week on Tuesday mornings.
Childcare is often the biggest barrier preventing mothers from accessing education and employment support. By caring for children during programme sessions, you directly enable their parents to build skills and pursue work, breaking cycles of isolation and poverty. As a Childcare Volunteer, your contribution creates a ripple effect that reaches the whole family. You’ll provide supervised childcare during programme sessions, enabling parents (particularly mothers with young children) to fully participate in ESOL classes, workshops, and employment support activities. Tasks include: - Supervising young children (typically age 0-5) in a designated space during programme sessions - Organising age-appropriate activities: reading, drawing, games, crafts - Ensuring children's safety and wellbeing throughout each session - Providing snacks and support with toileting/nappy changes - Creating a welcoming environment where children feel comfortable - Building positive relationships with children and parents - Coordinating with other childcare volunteers for consistent care. We currently need volunteers for Tuesday mornings, but other times will come up as new sessions are added.

● Experience with young children (personal or professional) ● Patient, energetic, and comfortable with multiple children ● DBS check required (we can support you through this process) ● Basic safeguarding awareness (training provided) ● Reliable and punctual ● Warm approach that puts children and parents at ease ● Helpful if you speak community languages as well as English

If you are interested in official training in safeguarding or childcare, let us know and we can provide specific training to aid in your career development.
2 hours per week on Tuesday mornings. Ideally you would volunteer every week, but once a fortnight may also be possible. It would be preferable if you could commit to volunteering for 3 months or longer, as the children benefit from familiar faces.
