Community Photographer – “Where the Internet Goes to Sleep” STEM Workshop

Help capture the joy of local children learning through play! We’re seeking a volunteer photographer for a creative STEM storytelling workshop that blends imagination, technology, and community.

Detailed Description

ThreadPoint Foundation is looking for a volunteer photographer to help capture the excitement and curiosity of local children and families during our free “Where the Internet Goes to Sleep” community workshop - a story-led STEM experience that helps children understand where the internet “lives.” You’ll photograph key moments throughout the 2.5-hour session, including storytelling, LEGO building, and interactive learning. Your photos will help celebrate local creativity and be used (with consent) for community reporting and promotional materials. These events will be taking place across Hackney in 2026 (dates and locations TBC). The first event will be in December, then every month thereafter. Welcome volunteers to sign up with ThreadPoint and choose the date and location they are able to volunteer. Responsibilities include: - Taking high-quality, natural photos throughout the event. - Capturing key moments that reflect participation, inclusion, and joy. - Respecting safeguarding guidance (no unauthorised child photography). - Sharing photos digitally within 7 days of the event. - Confident using a DSLR or high-quality camera (own equipment required). - Able to capture candid, storytelling-style photos. - Friendly, reliable, and comfortable in community or family settings. - Awareness of safeguarding (guidance will be provided).
