Alzheimer's Society is looking for a friendly and compassionate Sylheti Speaking Support Volunteer to help at our Memory Café at East London Mosque. The Memory Café provides a welcoming and supportive environment for people living with dementia and their carers to socialise, take part in activities, and build connections within the community.

Alzheimer's Society is looking for a friendly and compassionate Sylheti Speaking Support Volunteer to help at our Memory Café at East London Mosque. The Memory Café provides a welcoming and supportive environment for people living with dementia and their carers to socialise, take part in activities, and build connections within the community. As a volunteer, you will: • Welcome and interact with people living with dementia and their carers. • Provide conversation and companionship in Sylheti to help participants feel comfortable and included. • Support participants during group activities, offering encouragement and assistance when needed. • Help create a warm, friendly, and inclusive atmosphere. • Assist staff with setting up and tidying away activities if required.

What we're looking for: • Ability to speak fluent Sylheti. • A caring, patient, and empathetic approach. • Good communication and interpersonal skills. • Reliability and commitment to attending fortnightly sessions. No previous experience with dementia is required—training and ongoing support will be provided.

Time Commitment

Volunteers are required to attend fortnightly on Mondays mornings for 2 hours (11am to 1pm) and commit to the role for at least 6 months.
