Volunteer Host for Survivor of Modern Slavery
Hope at Home
At Home at Home, we support volunteer hosts who have a spare bedroom to welcome a survivor for a fixed period of time to provide a safe and welcoming place for a guest to recover from their past experiences and rebuild their lives. We offer comprehensive training and support for our hosts. We rely completely on the kindness and generosity of our hosts, and are committed to enabling you to support a guest with confidence.
At Home at Home, we support volunteer hosts who have a spare bedroom to welcome a survivor for a fixed period of time to provide a safe and welcoming place for a guest to recover from their past experiences and rebuild their lives. At Hope at Home, we know just how important it is that our hosts are properly trained and supported. Before you host, we run two host training sessions, as well as offering refresher training while in placement, on various topics such as modern slavery and human trafficking, being trauma-informed and your role and expectations. You will also be allocated a Hosting Coordinator, who will support you every step of the way. We also provide expenses, to help cover extra costs of hosting. All our guests receive specialised support from external agencies, so your role is to provide a warm and welcoming space, for a set period of time, with our support. All those who are empathetic, kind-hearted and supportive are encouraged to apply. We don't expect you to have any prior knowledge or specialist understanding, just a dedication to helping those in need, and the ability to support yourself and maintain boundaries in the process. We are here for you, and provide lots of support for both hosts and guests to make sure your placement works for you both. To find out more, please register interest and we will share more information.
