We are a small volunteer group working to create a greener, fairer future. We take action locally while contributing to national campaigns led by Friends of the Earth, the UK’s largest grassroots environmental network. Our work is varied, creative, and community-focused. We are actively looking for volunteers in Tower Hamlets so that we can do more to serve the community and make a difference here locally. Recent activities include: * Hosting film screenings on environmental justice issues * Running educational stalls at local community gatherings to raise awareness about recycling and sustainability * Engaging with Hackney councillors to hold them accountable on their climate commitments We meet monthly in Hackney and are looking for volunteers of all ages and backgrounds. Whether you’re keen to help organise events, support campaigns with local politicians, manage social media, create community newsletters, or even help us translate our posters, there’s a place for you here. You don’t need any experience and you don’t need to spend a set amount of hours volunteering each week or each month. You just need enthusiasm, curiosity, and a willingness to get involved.

We're looking for any skills, interests or experience you can contribute. If there's a skill you'd like to practice and learn then volunteering with us is a great way to do it!
Know you're making a real difference as part of the largest grassroots environmental network in the UK, who have brought about important changes like securing the world's first climate law in 2008, stopping the UK's largest open-cast coal mine, legally forcing Shell to cut emissions, and introducing recycling to the UK! Local groups are an important part of the bigger picture by campaigning with local decisionmakers, supporting local projects and working to improve the environment of where we live. You can also benefit from training and development activities that Friends of the Earth has to offer and enjoy being part of a bigger movement through networking with other local groups and taking part at national marches together. We're also keen to help our group members develop any skills they'd like to contribute, as we’re always trying to improve our activism. If you want to practice social media posting or want to be able to design posters, we can help with that. Our meetings and activities are always free and we are able to reimburse for expenses where necessary.
No set time commitment is necessary, but we're looking for some extra volunteer power to help us build our group and make our campaigning more impactful. You don't need to come to every monthly meeting, but any time you can spare to help with planning, campaigning, or organising in between meetings will make a big difference from as little as an hour per week on average.
