Women4Women Community Champion

Positive East

*** This role is only open to women of African, Caribbean or South Asian descent*** Positive East provides services for people living with and affected by HIV. We are seeking women from African, Caribbean or South Asian communities to be Women4Women Community Champions. In this role you will inform and advise women about sexual health services and sexual health & HIV testing, PrEP medication, and how to access it. You will help with community engagement and gather feedback.

Detailed Description

*** This role is only open to women of African, Caribbean or South Asian descent*** Positive East offers a comprehensive and holistic range of support services for people living with and affected by HIV, as well as HIV and STI testing, prevention and outreach. We are seeking women from African, Caribbean or South Asian communities to be Women4Women (W4W) Community Champions. In this role you will inform and advise women about sexual health services and sexual health & HIV testing, PrEP medication, and how to access it. You will: - help with community engagement by holding stall at events, giving talks, and running workshops within your community. - assist the W4W coordinator to run testing clinics. - help us create and design culturally competent resources. - assist in the collection of data and feedback, which will be used to inform service delivery improvements. - undertake community research. We provide full training for this role. This includes mandatory attendance at CDP accredited training (equivalent of 2 days). You will also have an opportunity to train in and conduct STI/HIV testing. We are seeking volunteers who can make a commitment to this project until 2028.

Basic IT skills - internet & email, Language Skills, Reading & Writing

Why these skills are required

• You must be a woman of African, Caribbean or South Asian descent No qualifications are needed. You will: • be confident in the use of English, spoken and written • have a desire to engage the community about sexual health • be able to record data using basic computer skills • be available some weekdays, evenings and weekends • be committed to anti racism and intersectional inclusiveness • hold values that align with meeting the needs of all in society • Understand, respect and maintain confidentiality An Enhanced DBS check is required for volunteering. We will help organise and pay for this if you do not have one already. If you have had an Enhanced DBS check in the last 12 months we can accept this.

What is in it for you

You will have helped women in your community access information about sexual health and HIV. Travel fares and lunch are reimbursed. you will receive CDP accredited training and certification.
