Praxis for Migrants and Refugees

We are now recruiting for volunteers to lead and support the food preparation for our support groups. We come together weekly to nurture wellbeing, build new positive relationships and respite from the demands of everyday life.

Detailed Description

We are now recruiting for volunteers to lead and support the food preparation for our support groups. We come together weekly to nurture wellbeing, build new positive relationships and respite from the demands of everyday life. • WINGS - Women and children’s group which will be meeting every week on Tuesdays. • Brighter Futures- Young migrants’ groups which will be meeting every week on Wednesday evenings. • GIANTS- men’s support groups which will be meeting every week on Fridays Tasks for the Kitchen Volunteer role will include: • Preparing and cooking the food for the group • Buying ingredients • Serving and organising the food • Setting up and packing away before and after workshops and tidying up the kitchen after the session.

Role requirements: • Ability to speak and write effectively in English. • A Food Safety certificate (Food Safety Level 1) would be desirable not essential. • Excellent listening and communication skills. • Creativity and reliability. • Awareness of the challenges facing migrant communities and a commitment to Praxis’ core values of solidarity, inclusiveness, respect, and justice.

Time Commitment

Timing can be flexible to suit the volunteer’s availability, but we encourage it to fall within the session hours to keep everything running smoothly.
