Together Better at Barton House Surgery is looking for a friendly and organised volunteer receptionist to join our team at the GP Surgery.
Together Better is a Volunteer Centre Hackney project that aims to lighten the load on GP surgeries and encourage patients into activities that will benefit their health and wellbeing. This is by supporting them to build inclusive and sustainable relationships and overall healthier lives. Barton House Surgery is looking for a friendly and organised volunteer receptionist to join our team. Duties and responsibility: - Process personal, telephone and e-requests for appointments after training - Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers’ request appropriately. - Initiating contact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members and external agencies. - Promote online services to patients in the waiting area. - Signpost patients to the correct services via website. - Clinically code basic data in EMIS Web. - Photocopy documentation as required. - Data entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required. - Input basic data into patients’ healthcare records as necessary. - Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times. - Monitor and maintain the reception area. - Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested. - Scan patient related documentation and attach scanned documents to patients’ healthcare records. - Complete opening and closing procedures in accordance with the duty rota. - Monitor stationery supplies. - Produce, maintain and participate in the receptionist rota for lunch and enhanced access cover. - Return records to Health Authority. - File new patient records following practice protocol. Skills and attributes: - Educated to GCSE level or equivalent - Experience of working with the general public - Excellent communication skills (written and oral) - Clear, polite telephone manner - Competent in the use of Office and Outlook - Effective time management (Planning & Organising) - Ability to work as part of a team - Good interpersonal skills - Ability to follow policy and procedure - Polite and confident - Flexible and cooperative - Motivated - Sensitive and empathetic in distressing situations You'll also handle data entry, scanning, filing, and maintain a clean, efficient reception area. Basic clinical coding in EMIS Web and general admin support are also part of the role.
