University Student Mentor

The Into University Mentoring Scheme matches current university students or recent graduates as mentors to young people, aged 10-17 years, from backgrounds that are underrepresented in higher education. As a mentor, you will lead one-to-one sessions, supporting your mentee with academic skills, social and emotional development, and future thinking. You will also attend group events with other mentoring pairs and celebrate your achievements at our annual Mentoring Celebration.

Detailed Description

Are you a current university student or have you graduated from any degree within the past five years? The Into University Mentoring Scheme pairs university student mentors with young people, aged 10-17 years, from backgrounds that are underrepresented in higher education. As a mentor, you will lead one-to-one sessions, supporting your mentee with academic skills, social and emotional development, and future thinking. You will also attend group events with other mentoring pairs and celebrate your achievements at our annual Mentoring Celebration.

Why these skills are required

For this role you must either be a current university student or have graduated from any degree within the past five years from an eligible university. You will also have: - Enthusiasm in helping young people achieve their goals - Ability to build positive relationships with young people - Commitment to the role - Initiative and collaboration with staff to deliver engaging sessions

Time Commitment

Mentoring meetings are 45mins to 1 hour and pairs meet every two weeks throughout the academic year. Meetings can take place any day Monday through Friday, between 3-6 pm. Meetings are flexible around your schedule. We expect pairs to have a minimum of 10 meetings.
