Female Exercise Instructor

Together Better at Somerford Grove Surgery is looking for a female exercise-based volunteer to deliver a weekly class or a fixed block of sessions to patients and residents in the activities room at the GP Surgery.
Together Better is a Volunteer Centre Hackney project that aims to lighten the load on GP surgeries and encourage patients into activities that will benefit their health and wellbeing. This is by supporting them to build inclusive and sustainable relationships and overall healthier lives. Somerford Grove Surgery is looking for an exercise based volunteer to work specifically with women (mainly Muslim women) who would not feel comfortable working with a male instructor. The instructor will deliver a weekly class or a fixed block of sessions to patients in Somerford Grove Surgery. This would ideally be like stretching, yoga-based exercise, movement for strength and conditioning and be at a level which is accessible to all, including beginners. Duties and responsibility: - Signing individuals into the session when they arrive - Facilitating and leading the activity - Answer questions and queries from the participants - Provide a welcoming and encouraging environment - Open to working with a variety of individuals with different needs and abilities - Willing to undertake induction and training for the role - Willing to undertake a DBS check Skills and attributes: - Ability to organise a weekly session for participants - Good communication and interpersonal skills - Interest in engaging a community and supporting individuals in making a difference to their lives - Previous experience of running an exercise class is desirable but not necessary This is a role specifically for women as it is supporting primarily Muslim women who wish to exercise in a single-sex environment.
