Help is needed in the small and shaded courtyard garden at Dr Johnson’s House, a charming Georgian townhouse, nestled amongst a maze of courts and alleys in the historic City of London. Samuel Johnson, writer and wit, lived here in the mid-18th century, and compiled his great Dictionary of the English Language in the Garret. The courtyard was replanted recently with shade loving plants but would benefit from some extra colour (and weeding!) Activities - to carry out tasks such as: - weeding raised beds - watering - planting annuals and emptying pots at the end of the season All equipment and materials will be provided. We regret that no travel expenses can be offered for this role but we would be very pleased to provide references in support of job applications elsewhere. When we get in contact with you, we will ask for the details of two referees, both of whom will be contacted before the placement can start.

Gardening
If you can tell a plant from a weed and enjoy gardening, then please apply! There is no heavy lifting nor bending as the garden has a raised bed.
We are part of an award scheme. So you can convert your volunteer hours to credits to redeem at other venues.
No time commitment. The House opens between 11am to 5pm, Tuesday to Saturday - so you would need to arrive between those times.
