WORLDwrite’s “Train & Shoot” volunteering programme is open to everyone aged 16 and over. Whether you’re a seasoned filmmaker or have never held a camera, this is a unique volunteer programme with hands-on, face-to-face camera training and professional shoots. This project will result in the production of over 30 videos for online distribution. Every volunteer will be credited for their work—and in the media world, credits are currency.
If developing film making skills or testing your existing skills while making an impact interests you, this is definitely the role for you. WORLDwrite’s “Train & Shoot” volunteering programme is open to everyone aged 16 and over. Whether you’re a seasoned filmmaker or have never held a camera, this is a unique volunteer programme with hands-on, face-to-face camera training and professional shoots. Once skills are honed, Theatre, Talks and TV Volunteers will form crews to film interviews and play readings covering Haiti’s rich culture and history in April, and inspiring talks at the Hackney History Festival in May. This project will result in the production of over 30 videos for online distribution. Every volunteer will be credited for their work—and in the media world, credits are currency. We’ll also provide lunches and cover local travel expenses.

No prior skills required but an interest in social issues and history may be helpful as this is factual programme making.
All volunteers will be credited on all productions worked on. References will be provided if this is helpful. A chance to work with a crew, make friends and develop new skills. Lunches & expenses for location shoots provided.
Sessions are already arranged. The oprogramme starts on 18 March and ends on 27 May 2026. You will need to join Wednesday evening meetings via Zoom each week, plus 3 face-to-face camera training days & 3 shooting days at weekends, and one session helping to prepare for a major Saturday celebration.
