Volunteer Community Cooks

The Guild Church of St Katharine Cree

We believe in the power of shared meals to foster community and connection. We're looking for Volunteer Community Cooks to help us create a welcoming space on Saturday mornings, where everyone feels at home.

Detailed Description

This is more than just a culinary role! We're looking for people who love to create delicious, hearty meals that build community. You'll be responsible for preparing a meal that brings people together. We want people who enjoy connecting with others and fostering a welcoming atmosphere. We welcome those who want to assist in the kitchen, regardless of their experience. Your patience and encouragement will be invaluable. This is a chance to be part of a vibrant community and make a real difference in people's lives. At its heart, this role is to serve others with love, compassion, and hospitality. Sharing a meal is a powerful way to reflect an invitation to all, creating a space where people feel seen, valued, and cared for. Through simple acts of service like cooking and welcoming, you'll help build relationships and strengthen the sense of belonging that lies at the core of our church community. What you’ll do: - Prepare delicious, healthy meals using the ingredients available to you in our community kitchen. - Help foster a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. - Work alongside community members who will assist with cooking and take care of the washing up. This role does require a good level of cooking ability and confidence in preparing meals for groups. We're looking for someone who can plan and prepare hearty, tasty, and welcoming meals, sometimes working independently and sometimes alongside members of the community. That said, you don’t need to be a professional chef — just someone who enjoys cooking, can manage basic kitchen tasks safely and efficiently, and is comfortable guiding or encouraging others when needed. A friendly, patient attitude and a heart for hospitality are just as important as kitchen skills!
