Travel Hands is a London-based charity that helps visually impaired people (VIP) travel safely around the city by connecting them with volunteers, known as "Travel Hands." These volunteers accompany VIPs on essential trips such as visiting the GP, going shopping, or navigating public transportation. Travel Hands provides a personalised, supportive travel service, ensuring that visually impaired individuals can move around the city independently and safely.

Travel Hands provides a personalised, supportive travel service, ensuring that visually impaired individuals can move around the city independently and safely with the assistance of caring and reliable volunteers. We’re looking for volunteers who: • Have good communication skills and a patient, friendly attitude. • Are comfortable with light walking and assisting others. • Are available for flexible hours, depending on the VIP’s schedule. Volunteers will receive guidance on how to assist visually impaired individuals, and in return, they’ll gain valuable experience, learn about accessibility, and contribute to making London a more inclusive city. • Ability to empathise with the problems faced by VIPs. • Good time management skills, being able to schedule walks with VIPs and arriving at the meeting point on time. • Committed and reliable. • Compassionate. • Patient. • Trustworthy. • Good listener, we would appreciate it if our volunteers can have interesting chats with VIPs whilst on journeys.

Full induction and training will be provided.
Anytime, Monday - Sunday, 9am - 9pm. The exact time will completely depend on the VIPs need and so the volunteer will need to flexible with their availability.
