Interior Design Volunteer

• Plan and conduct consultation sessions in the allocated service(s). • Consult with the people we support to gather ideas and preferences. • Use visual aids such as pictures, drawings, and material samples to facilitate discussions. • Assist in creating mood boards ensuring alignment with the individual’s sensory needs (materials, colours, lighting). • Encourage environmentally friendly options. • Support people maintaining a physical scrapbook, transform it into digital format.

Detailed Description

As the Interior Design Volunteer, you will play a vital role in helping the people we support transforming their shared living spaces. Your engagement will help create personalised environments that reflect the preferences and sensory needs of the people living in the service. This is an opportunity to combine your creativity with a passion for community service, ensuring that everyone can enjoy a home that feels welcoming and supportive.

• You have an interest in interior design or related fields • You have organisational skills to manage visits and documentation effectively • You have some experience sharing your skill with other people • You have strong communication skills and the ability to engage with people with diverse needs. Training will be provided. • You have a willingness to learn about and respect the sensory and personal preferences of the people we support • You are friendly and have strong interpersonal skills • You are passionate about making a difference in the lives of people with learning disabilities and/or autism spectrum condition • You are creative • You are patient, empathetic and open-minded • You are organised and can volunteer independently • You take initiative and manage your workload • You are reliable and punctual

Time Commitment

• Minimum once a week, between May and June. • At a time that suits both the volunteer and the service. • Service consultations will take up to 2 hours. • Preparation and planning. • Outings might take up to 5 hours (lunch allowance provided if volunteering 4 + hours). • This project will run in up to 10 Outward services. • Services will be allocated between all volunteers. Reach will vary according to the volunteer’s availability, with the possibility of working in teams of two. • If available, to support during the second phase and help deliver in July, at a time suitable to all parties.
