Do you have a background in accounting or bookkeeping and a passion for helping others? Working Well Trust is looking for dedicated volunteers to assist our clients in managing their financial records and understanding their financial obligations. By volunteering, you’ll provide essential support to entrepreneurs and small business owners, helping them build a solid financial foundation for their ventures. Working Well Trust is an employment charity dedicated to empowering people experiencing mental health challenges and neurodiverse conditions to achieve their potential through meaningful employment. Our mission is to improve lives by offering emotional and practical support at every stage of their recovery and employment journey, fostering self-respect, confidence, and financial independence. Starting a business or social enterprise can be both challenging and rewarding. For clients seeking independent advice to pursue an entrepreneurial career path, our Business & Enterprise Advice Service offers expert mentoring and practical guidance to help them overcome barriers and build sustainable businesses. As an Accounting/Bookkeeping Advisor you will: o Sit in with client consultations (50 minutes) to learn about client needs. o Support clients in understanding their financial obligations, including budgeting, bookkeeping, and tax requirements. o Provide advice on financial planning, cash flow management, and budgeting for small businesses & self-employed individuals. o Mentor clients on maintaining accurate financial records and meeting statutory and regulatory requirements (in terms of tax reporting and accounting). o Offer advice on funding options, including grants, loans, and financial support available for small businesses. o Collaborate with the B&E Advisor to track client progress and provide tailored financial advice as needed. A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be required to ensure suitability for working with vulnerable adults.

Essential Criteria: • Strong understanding of accounting or bookkeeping principles, either through formal training or practical experience. • Knowledge of financial management, budgeting, and tax requirements for small businesses. • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts in a clear and accessible manner. • Empathy and patience when supporting clients, particularly those with mental health challenges. Desirable Criteria: • Experience working with small businesses or startups in a financial advisory capacity. • Familiarity with social enterprises or community interest companies (CICs). • Awareness of the challenges faced by individuals with mental health conditions or neurodiverse traits such as ADHD and ASD.

Time Commitment

• We ask volunteers to commit to at least 4 hours every fortnight. • Hybrid working available. • Flexible scheduling to suit your availability, although we do need you to be available on the occasional Monday or Thursday to liaise with the Team Lead. • We can accommodate both regular and ad-hoc volunteering hours
