Tower Hamlets CVS is looking for a creative and enthusiastic Communications Volunteer to join our team, working alongside the Communications Officer and staff team. Do you have a knack for crafting catchy social media posts? Are you passionate about social change and supporting voluntary and community groups in Tower Hamlets? We would love to hear from you. Detailed Description

Tower Hamlets CVS is looking for a creative and enthusiastic Communications Volunteer to join our team, working alongside our Communications Officer and staff team. Do you have a knack for crafting catchy social media posts? Are you passionate about social change and supporting voluntary and community groups in Tower Hamlets? Then we would love to hear from you. Communications Volunteer’s Responsibilities: · Develop engaging and informative social media content that showcases the amazing work of the VCS in Tower Hamlets. This could be writing posts about upcoming events, highlighting success stories, case studies, or creating awareness campaigns. · Craft multimedia stories: While social media is your main focus, you'll have the opportunity to create impactful short films to further amplify the voices of voluntary and community groups. · Research and identify trending topics and hashtags relevant to the voluntary and community sector in Tower Hamlets. · Schedule social media posts across various platforms (eg Facebook, X, LinkedIn, TikTok, Instagram, Bluesky) using scheduling tools. · You may be tasked with capturing compelling photos at events, workshops and with our members to complement social media content and short films. About THCVS THCVS provides voluntary and community sector (VCS) groups and organisations in Tower Hamlets with the resources, connections, and support necessary for them to thrive and have a greater impact. We support them to run their organisations effectively, secure funding to deliver services and to connect and collaborate with each other. We are also an embedded strategic partner in the borough, bridging the space between the voluntary and community sector and statutory and other partners, enabling us to give a voice to the VCS and advocate on their behalf. THCVS members can gain access to a wide range of benefits, including free, personalized 1:1 development support, access to free or discounted training opportunities aimed at building essential skills within the voluntary sector. Members can also take advantage of free job advertisements to reach suitable candidates and promote projects or events through our monthly e-bulletins, which reach over 1,700 subscribers. At THCVS we recognise the vital role communication plays in strengthening the VCS within the borough. Our communications strategy focuses on key strategic messages: · Voluntary and community groups are experts on what they do. · We advocate on the issues that most matter to the sector. · We highlight the voices of voluntary and community groups. · We clearly say who we are and what we do. · Our members are important to us. · We work hard to proactively reach out to the smallest voluntary and community groups. · We are transparent, friendly and accessible. By prioritising communication THCVS aims to give voluntary and community groups: · A stronger voice - increasing visibility and gaining community support. · Access to the resources they need. · Increased confidence, connections and skills THCVS is committed to using the power of communication to ensure the incredible work of voluntary and community groups in Tower Hamlets is recognised, supported, and continues to make a positive impact. The deadline for applications for this role is 31 October 2025. Ideally you should be available to volunteer for 7 hours a week between Tuesday and Thursday.

Time Commitment

Up to 7 hours per week, flexible hours. When travel is required, THCVS will cover travel costs within the borough and lunch up to a total of £15 a day on days of travel. We would prefer the volunteer to work with us in the office on Tuesday/ Wednesday/ Thursday, but there is some flexibility to work from home.
