By giving just a little of your time, you will help reduce loneliness, bring friendship and a sense of belonging.
St. Hilda’s East’s LinkAge Plus is a welcoming service for local people aged 50 and over. We’re here to boost health and wellbeing, ease isolation, and bring people together through friendship, fun, and learning. Based at Sonali Gardens Day Centre in Shadwell, we’re one of five hubs supporting older people across the borough. Our activities are as varied as the people we work with — coffee mornings, darts, pool , dance, and creative workshops. We also offer learning opportunities such as health sessions, English as a Second Language (ESOL), and digital skills classes. As an Activity Support Volunteer, you’ll be at the heart of what we do. You’ll welcome older people into the centre, share conversations while serving refreshments, and create a warm, friendly atmosphere. You’ll also lend a hand with setting up activities and tidying up afterwards, making sure everything runs smoothly. Your support will make a real difference. In Tower Hamlets, many older people face long-term health conditions, and around 16% experience chronic loneliness. By giving just a little of your time, you can help change that — bringing friendship and a sense of belonging to people who need it most.
