Arts and Crafts Volunteer
Volunteer Centre Hackney
Together Better Kingsmead GP Surgery is looking for an arts and crafts volunteer to facilitate a session for a group of committed and sociable residents at Kingsmead.
Together Better is a Volunteer Centre Hackney project that aims to lighten the load on GP surgeries and encourage patients into activities that will benefit their health and wellbeing, by supporting them to build inclusive and sustainable relationships and overall healthier lives. We are looking for a volunteer to join the project as an art and crafts volunteer and help facilitate a weekly art and crafts group of committed and sociable residents at Kingsmead in Homerton. Our current volunteer has to step back for health reasons, so we’re looking for a new volunteer to take over the group. Our current facilitator was teaching members how to crochet, but we would be happy to take up any new craft!

The volunteer should be skilled in some artistic or craft activity that they would be happy to teach to others, and have the patience required to teach. The volunteer should also be able to easily get along with new people. A basic command of English will also be beneficial.
The volunteer will gain experience of facilitating a leisure group, which can be helpful for anyone looking to get into teaching a craft professionally, or looking to develop their own skills in the craft further. Volunteering can also be a personally-fulfilling experience for many people, and the group of residents at Kingsmead are very warm, welcoming and interactive.
