Bid Writing and Fundraising Volunteer
Children with Voices
Children With Voices, a dynamic and community-driven charity committed to supporting vulnerable individuals and families, is seeking a motivated and skilled Bid Writing and Fundraising Volunteer. This role is instrumental in securing funding opportunities, grants, and partnerships to ensure the continuous growth and success of the charity's initiatives.
Children with Voices started over 20 years ago with one woman, a community hall and a belief that no child in Hackney should be forgotten. Our founder Michelle began with a Winter Wonderland for local children at London Fields School, covered by the Hackney Gazette, after being named Family Mosaic Inspirational Tenant of the Year. Today we are a registered charity at Fawcett Estate Community Hall in Clapton, running a Community Food Hub, Jumping Beans, SEND support, alternative education and work in local schools. Over 100,000 children and families have come through our doors. We have twenty years of results, national awards and families who will tell you exactly what we changed for them. What we do not always have is the time to put that on paper in the way funders need to see it. Every bid we do not write is a programme we cannot grow. This role changes that. Who this role suits: A bid writer or fundraiser, retired or working, who knows how to build a case for support. Someone from a research, policy or academic background who writes well to a brief. If you have won grants before, whatever the sector, your skills carry across. Duties and responsibilities: • Researching trusts, foundations and funding streams that fit what we already do well • Writing and submitting applications, working to funders' word counts and deadlines • Building a library of reusable text on our history, programmes and impact, so each bid starts further ahead • Working with our team to gather the figures and case studies funders ask for • Keeping a simple record of what has been applied for, what was won and when reports are due • Helping us report back to funders properly, because good reporting is what wins the next grant We would be looking for the prospective volunteer to give around 5 hours a week, mostly from home and flexible around you and would love a commitment of 6 months or more so you can see your impact. There is no obligation for this though. What you will need: Clear, persuasive writing and the discipline to work to a deadline and a word count. Comfort with numbers and evidence. Honesty, because everything we submit has to be accurate. Grant writing experience is a real advantage but a strong writer who researches carefully can learn the form. What you will get from us: Ownership of applications from research to submission, with your name on the wins. Proper support, so you are never left to figure it out alone. Direct working relationship with our CEO. A personal reference from Michelle, and a track record you can point to.
