Detailed Description

If you believe that girls can do anything, and have time to spare, we’d love you to join our unit as a volunteer! We provide a space for girls in Hackney to be themselves and achieve great things. Volunteering with us is flexible and a wonderful way to connect with your community, gain a sense of fulfilment and – above all – have a lot of fun! Brownies are age 7 to 10 and our unit has 24 girls. We do a wide range of activities, from planting vegetables to making underwater fireworks, rock climbing and sewing, and of course we earn lots of badges along the way. Everything we do is about giving the girls the space to thrive, and as volunteers we love to see the confident and community-minded individuals that Girlguiding fosters. We meet weekly on Thursday evenings in term-time for 1.5 plus 30 minutes set-up time for volunteers, but we welcome flexible volunteers with a range of skillsets. The role can be adapted to suit your interests and availability, but broadly your responsibilities might include: • Running lots of games and activities for the Brownies • Providing support to those who need an extra hand to participate • Setting up and clearing away crafts and activities • Joining trips, visits and overnight stays.
