Shoreditch Trust are recruiting a form filling volunteer to assist with our Bumps Buddy service. Bump Buddies is a free service for women in Hackney who are pregnant or have children under school age, offering support and guidance throughout early parenthood.

By accessing our services, people develop personal skills, strengthen resources and support networks, reduce reliance on statutory health services, enhance their quality of life, and build stronger relationships with family, friends, and the broader community. We are recruiting a form filling volunteer to assist with our Bumps Buddy service. Bump Buddies is a free service for women in Hackney who are pregnant or have children under school age, offering support and guidance throughout early parenthood. Role: Assist mums with filling in online and paper forms including those for: • Universal Credit application, • Housing application • School application • Other public services • Face to face applications with mums who need support with their applications. To help mums read and understand official letters including: • Utility bill, • Legal letter, • Bank letters, • Letters from GP etc. Laptops and phones will be provided. As our mums often have quite chaotic lives, we will sometimes experience no shows at appointments. In cases such as this, volunteers may not be needed and will be notified on the day. You are: • Organised, Calm, • Confident, can-do, • Non-judgemental, friendly, approachable, • Able to maintain boundaries. • Able to withstand the frustration of official forms and websites, • Forgiving of mothers in crisis who may not bring all the correct information at hand when they arrive. • Able to work within existing safeguarding health and safety, and equality policies. • Willing to undergo training and support and supervision. Your skills and qualities will include: • Empathy and communication • Good level computer literacy with high functioning level of English • Ability to help fill in forms online. • Attention to detail, • Experience in an advice role welcomed. • DBS checked or willing to undergo one. • Ability to spot and escalate any underlying issues that would need attention. You will: • Engage with mums to build rapport and trust. • Empower mums to complete sections on forms which they may find difficult. • Ensure mum is happy with next steps/process where to submit/send form to. • Support mum with uploading/scanning documents • Identify areas for further support. As well as an introduction to Shoreditch Trust, full training will be provided.

Commitment • We ask for a minimum six-month commitment on Tuesdays from 9:30am till 12:30pm at St Peter De Beauvoir Church from September onwards during school term times. • Agree to undergo training and supervision on an ongoing basis.
