Neighbourhood Forums Meeting Moderator

We are looking for a Meeting Moderator to lead our Forum meetings and Action Groups. You will help chair our Neighbourhoods Forum events and be a lead in creating discussion and guiding attendees through in-depth conversations, making sure that everyone gets a chance to be heard.
The Neighbourhood Forums are a place for people living and working in City & Hackney to come together and have a say about how to improve their health and wellbeing, and remove barriers to health care services. We are looking for community focused volunteers to get involved and help support the work we do. Are you a born leader who is confident speaking in front of your community? Do you want to support local people to make real, positive change? We are looking for a Meeting Moderator to lead our Forum meetings and Action Groups. You will help chair our Neighbourhoods Forum events and be a lead in creating discussion and guiding attendees through in-depth conversations, making sure that everyone gets a chance to be heard. Duties and responsibilities: • Work with the facilitators of your Neighbourhood to support the development of 2 Neighbourhood Forum meetings and 4 Action Group meetings. • Help the team to prepare the session and give input about what works for residents. • Chair meetings/events by: o welcoming people to the space o going over house-keeping rules o going through meeting guidelines/ground rules for the session o managing introductions for the group o keeping the meeting to time and following the agenda set o guiding discussion and conversation o asking attendees to fill out feedback forms • Attend meetings to discuss the events and how well they went. • Occasionally attend Leadership Group meetings where you will help feed back about the Forums work, being a voice for residents in a decision-making space. Skills and attributes: • Be friendly and welcoming. • Confident speaking in front of groups of people and talking to new people, whilst leading groups of people through conversations. • Be open minded, with an ability to remain neutral and objective. • Be sensitive, approachable, and tactful. • Positive and passionate about community forums/resident involvement. • Positive and passionate about improving your community. Desirable skills and attributes but not necessary: • Have an understanding of NHS & Social Care Systems • Have in depth knowledge of your local area. • Have a commitment to improving the health of your community. • Speak a community language. • Have previous experience in a similar role. Once you have registered interest you will receive a short form to complete so that you can tell us a bit about yourself. Once we have your form, we can set up a 1-1 chat, where we can have a more in-depth conversation about the role. If you think the role is for you, you will then complete a short induction which will cover everything you need to know, as well as the training and support you will receive.

You will need to attend 2 Neighbourhood Forum meetings and 4 Action Groups meetings per year, as well as planning meetings outside of this. There may be other events that pop up, but we can have a chat about your capacity and what you are able to get involved with.
