Events Helper for MATCH Programme

Volunteer Centre Hackney

We are looking for Events Helpers to provide hands on, practical help and support for in-person events for project areas across the MATCH programme.

Detailed Description

MATCH is a programme of work being carried out by the Population Health Hub that brings together people that work in the health and care system, voluntary organisations and residents to improve access to health care by those who are effected by inequality. The MATCH programme identifies key local issues where there are ongoing inequalities, and works with partners to pinpoint and put in place ideas for change. Are you a practical, hands-on person who likes to help? Do you like to get stuck in and make things happen? Events Helpers will provide practical help and support for in-person events for project areas across the MATCH programme. Duties and responsibilities: • Help support with in-person workshops and events. • Greet people attending workshops. • Help attendees to sign in/sign register. • Help to write name badges and give to people arriving. • Help to set up tables/chairs and other equipment needed in the workspace at the beginning of the session and throughout (we can help support with this if you’re unable to do so). • Help set up food and refreshments/supplies. • Be on hand to help the lead of the session with any other practical support needed on the day. Skills and attributes: • Be friendly, welcoming and ready to chat to new people. • Happy to get stuck in and help an event run smoothly. • Be willing to support with manual handling of basic equipment, like chairs and tables (support can be provided). • Be positive about community projects and involving residents. • Have a commitment to improving health for the borough. • Positive and passionate about improving your community. Desirable skills and attributes but not necessary: • Have an understanding of NHS & Social Care Systems • Have in depth knowledge of your local area/neighbourhood. • Have an understanding of health & safety (training will be provided). • Speak a community language. • Have previous experience in helping with events or similar. Once you have registered interest you will receive a short form to complete so that you can tell us a bit about yourself. Once we have your form, we can set up a 1-1 chat, where we can have a more in-depth conversation about the role. If you think the role is for you, you will then complete a short induction which will cover everything you need to know, as well as the training and support you will receive.
