Core Arts promote positive mental health and wellbeing through a college-like environment of creative learning. We are looking for a fashion and textiles volunteer to support with the class on Friday mornings.

Detailed Description

Core Arts is a not-for-profit Social Business. Based in Hackney, we promote positive mental health and wellbeing through a college-like environment of creative learning. Providing quality education, training, employment and social enterprise initiatives that enable people who experience mental health issues to overcome barriers, fulfil their potential and participate fully in their community. Core Sport are looking for a fashion and textiles volunteer to support with the classes that take place. Duties and responsibilities: • Work supporting the tutors in their class. • Help with setting up and clearing up at the end of the session. • Motivate and assist members in their projects and respond flexibly to each member’s needs and help them achieve success towards their creative work plans and outlined goals. • Bring technical and practical assistance to the sessions using your fashion & textiles knowledge and expertise. • Be punctual, committed and professional in all aspects of work. • Maintain a positive and supportive work environment for both members and teachers. Skills and Ability: • Sewing and/or textile experience is a necessity for this role • Previous experience in teaching fashion sessions desirable. • An ability to work creatively and flexibly with vulnerable people. General Duties: • To ensure basic health and safety practices are adhered to. • To be punctual, committed and professional in all aspects of the work. • To work within the Equal Opportunities Framework observed at Core Arts. • To follow Core Arts Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults Policies and Procedures. What is in it for you

• £6 per session paid expenses (please provide receipts for travel and food). • Training and development opportunities are also available.

Time Commitment

One session usually 4 hrs once a week for 3 months commitment.
