Boiler House Spaces is a community charity in Hackney. Local communities in Hackney face some of the highest levels of multiple deprivation including food poverty, mental and physical health inequalities, poor housing and acute gaps in essential services and yet this diverse community is rich in talent often hidden or held back. Boiler House Spaces was set up by two local women and is locally led. We run a food bank with guidance and support as well as working with partners to help local people. We open our spaces for community groups to connect and make key improvements in their own lives. The charity urgently needs to secure new funding to sustain its work and reach more local people. We need a marketing or communications volunteer – training offered. Marketing / Communications Volunteer Role description Hours: Part time (min 3 hours per week) Reporting to: Chief Executive (CE) Location: Flexible (remote or onsite in Hackney) Role objective:  To help Boiler House Spaces raise funds for our work alongside local people in Hackney  To promote Boiler House Spaces to external audiences Main tasks  Use existing written documents to prepare and write fundraising materials including appeals, funding proposals and letters or emails to supporters (with support from Boiler House staff/CE)  To prepare and once approved send out social media: news, updates and appeals  To prepare responses to supporters who send enquiries or ask for more information  To help organise and promote events.  To keep up to date information/ records on our supporters e.g. add or update details on our contact list/ spreadsheet (training on Excel spreadsheets provided) and in our computer storage (training provided on Microsoft One Drive files and folders) .
