Mental Elf Festive Fun Volunteer - 6th December

Multiple roles are available to support with the Mental Elf Run. From route set up to registration to cheering at the end and document with photos and videos, there is something for everyone.

Detailed Description

Several roles are available to support with our Mental Elf Run in December: 1. Route/event set up/take down • Carry resources into the park • Hang decorations and signage in the event area and along the route • Put up event banners • Set up gazebos, tables, chairs for registration and first aid areas • Set up start/finish line area • Dismantle everything and help carry back out of the park 2. Registration desk • Give a friendly welcome to our elves as they arrive and tick them off your list • Register on -the -day sign -ups and take payment • Ask participants to fill in medical and photo consent forms if not already completed • Give participants their running packs • Uphold GDPR principles • Direct participants towards start line ready for the warm -up at 1 0 :50am 3 Route Marshalls • Take part in the briefing led by the Team Leader • Stand at given point on route and remain there until you are advised it is safe to stand down • Keep an eye out for any debris/obstacles that could cause any issues to our elves as they pass your point and safely move them out of their path • Smile, cheer, clap and shout encouragement to our elves as they pass your point. Singing and dancing is very much encouraged! • Keep our elves and the public safe by ensuring you know where the nearest park exit is and slow down any crowding • Keep an eye out for any cyclists and ask our elves to stop to let them pass • Report any accidents/first aid requirements immediately • Once stood down, collect any event signage/decorations and litter 4. Finish line cheer crew • Smile, cheer, clap and shout encouragement to our elves as they pass the finish line. Singing and dancing is very much encouraged! • Hand out medals to all elves and thank them for taking part • Ensure any litter is collected 5. Photographer •Be able to work independently and follow a brief •Uphold GDPR principles, being respectful of consent and follow the colour coding on race number bibs •Capture the atmosphere and energy of the event, from special moments to festive costumes •Provide the series of photos shortly after the event 6. Videographer •Be able to work independently and follow a brief •Uphold GDPR principles, being respectful of consent and follow the colour coding on race number bibs •Capture the atmosphere and energy of the event, from special moments to festive costumes •Film short clips that can be shared as raw footage or edited into ready-to-use content for our digital channels. Although it is not a requirement, we would encourage all our volunteers to join in with the festive spirit and wear festive fancy dress !

Why these skills are required

For the photographer and videographer roles we require that you have experience and a good camera. Some basic literacy is required for registration and if you are planning the route you will be moving around so you need to have the adequate level of fitness. The most important skill of all is to have a friendly attitude and a big smile on your face.

The event takes place on Sunday 6 December at 10.30am. There is no fixed ending time but the run goes for 5k.
