There is no requirement to have prior Trustee experience. I stepped into the role when I was 27, just 10 months after becoming a Trustee, with no previous governance experience. The core of the role comes down to building a strong partnership with the CO, collaborating with your fellow Trustees, setting clear ambitions, and maintaining oversight of our financial, legal, and regulatory duties. While that might sound significant, you will not be doing it alone. The Marine Society & Sea Cadets provides extensive guidance and support on policies, processes, and operational requirements. Our Unit Management Team is also experienced, proactive, and effective in their respective roles.
The role of Chair broadens governance, legal, regulatory, and voluntary experience and expertise.
