We are looking for friendly, reliable volunteers to support our energy advisors on Home Visits as part of our energy advice project. This project aims to alleviate fuel poverty within our local community and supports residents with improving energy efficiency and cutting their bills.

Detailed Description

We are looking for friendly, reliable volunteers to support our energy advisors on Home Visits as part of our energy advice project. This project aims to alleviate fuel poverty within our local community and supports residents with improving energy efficiency and cutting their bills. You’ll be volunteering alongside a trained energy advisor and won’t be expected to offer technical advice. As a volunteer, you’ll provide a friendly and respectful presence in the home and provide practical help (such as cutting and sticking draught tape). By supporting our visits, you’ll help us reach more households and deliver support to those who need it. - Offer a friendly, warm and non-judegemental presence towards the client. - Practical help with fitting small energy-saving measures (e.g. radiator foils, draught tape). - Professional conduct: ensuring a composed, respectful, and empathetic demeanor at all times. - Treating all clients with dignity and respect. - Maintaining the strictest confidentiality around client cases and complying with CREW GDPR and Safeguarding policies.

ESSENTIAL Comfortable entering peoples’ homes. Willingness to travel to and from home visits. A warm, compassionate and sensitive approach. An interest in empowering others. Many of our clients are experiencing hardship and may be in vulnerable situations, so it’s important to be understanding and non-judgmental. Maintain confidentiality. DESIRABLE Interest in sustainability and community level action. Knowledge around home energy efficiency and issues such as Condensation, Damp and Mould.

Time Commitment

No fixed number of hours. Whether you can commit regularly or only occasionally, we’d love to hear from you! Home visits usually last around 1 hour 30 minutes. Our energy advisors conduct several visits in a single day but you are welcome to support as many or as few as your availability allows. The visits take place on weekdays between 9-5pm. Our busiest period is September - March when the weather is cooler.

Our advisors visit homes across the Boroughs of Richmond, Kingston, Wandsworth and Merton. We welcome volunteers who are able to help in any of these areas so please let us know when you apply.
